![]() ![]() I think with every record, we kind of just go with it. I don’t know if we know what that goal is, really – or at least not well enough to say “This is exactly what we’re trying to do.” But we’re all headed in the same direction and we’re all having a good time writing stuff. And I’ve got a good feeling that everyone has a goal. And I think where we are in our career now, it’s interesting to have made an album that people feel is a great record that made a huge impact on music. What’s that like for you?A: I think what’s cool about it is that that record still means a lot to so many people. We’re always trying to do something new or create something we haven’t done in a while.Q: You’ve done a couple shows in the past year where you did “Hybrid Theory” in its entirety. I would say when people can start to guess what the next record is gonna sound like, we’re probably getting lazy (laughs). I think every record we make is a little different. So we’re now in the midst of that process.Q: Does it feel like it’s going somewhere different than “The Hunting Party?”A: Oh yeah. Everything still feels really fresh and really cool. And to have also had a career that’s lasted 15 years and is still going strong and still growing and we’re still just as excited, I feel like we’re just getting started. So to be asked go play shows specifically to do that album and pay respect to that album and have people come to see us play that record in its entirety because they love it, it’s a really cool feeling. And I feel like this last year has been a really cool experience, hearing people come forth and say how much they love that record. So we don’t really have that thought process with our records. It’s a weird thought process that most people probably don’t have. It’s almost like thinking about the birthday you had last year and whether or not this year is gonna be as good as that one. So we don’t really focus on the music we’ve created. We don’t sit back and go, ‘OK, well, what worked on the last record?” All we can do is go in and make the music that comes to us. And we do feel the importance of that record to our fans. We still feel the importance of that record to our career. But at the same time, we still feel the impact that “Hybrid Thoery” has. But I would say 95 out of 100 times, when people come up to me and compliment the band, if they mention a record, it’s “Hybrid Theory.”Q: Having heard that kind of thing for 15 years, do you have any thoughts on what it is about that record that it does hit people that way?A: I don’t think anybody knows. Some people will says “A Thousands Suns” is the best record. Some people will say “Midnight to Midnight” is the best record. People aren’t running up to me and saying, “Dude, ‘Living Things….’” Every once in a while, I’ll hear a different record. He said, “Dude, ‘Hybrid Theory’ is the best record you’ve ever made.” And he ran off. This guy ran up to me and grabbed me. But to try to answer that question would be ridiculous. And I know what I think of it. But at the same time, I don’t know why people like “Hybrid Theory” over any other record. I think the body of our work has had a much greater impact than one record. Our music continues to do that. Theme mac os for windows 7We talk about hard things and dark things. We talk about crazy things. But if I was a fan, if I wasn’t in the band, there’s just a rawness to that record and a darkness, but at the same time, it’s not scary. And “Hybrid Theory” was the introduction to that, with music that makes you want to punch people in the face. When something bad happens to you, you’ve got to look at “What’s this gonna bring to me?” That’s something that resonates with our music. You’ve got to celebrate the bad times and cherish the good times. And I think it’s something that our music talks about. People can relate to suffering and it having a meaning. And I think people can relate to that. Twitter.com/EdMasleyWhere: Tempe Beach Park, Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. So I don’t know.Reach the reporter at or 60.
